Military Medal 'This bearer acted as runner between posts on 20th September, 1917 and displayed great courage and devotion to duty. He was affected by 'Mustard Gas' but delivered his messages and then returned to Dressing Station carrying on there for four hours until he had to be evacuated on account of the blistering of his back. His example was magnificent.'
