Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the night 17th/18th September 1918 near VENDELLLES. Whilst preparing for the subsequent operation to advance to the HINDENBURG LINE, Driver SIMPSON showed great courage and initiative under heavy shell fire. The team preceding his had been destroyed, and it was mainly due to his clever manoeuvring and dash that he was able to get his wagon loaded and away. His fearlessness set a fine example to all.'
