Disembarked Alexandria, 20 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Joined Western Frontier Force, 29 December 1916.

Found guilty, Romani, 3 July 1916, of not complying with an order, viz., failing to turn out of bed after being ordered to do so by his Troop Sergeant: awarded 2 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Wounded in action, El Arish, 9 January 1917 (gun shot wound, hand and right side); admitted to 1st Lowlands Field Ambulance, 12 January 1917, and transferred same day to 24th Stationary Hospital; to 14th Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 17 January 1917; discharged to Details, Moascar, 1 February 1917.

Taken on strength, 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, 1 February 1917.

Found guilty, 10 February 1917, of when on Active Service failing to salute an Officer: awarded 7 days confined to barracks.

Taken on strength, 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 14 February 1917.

Admitted to 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance, 24 April 1918 (diarrhoea), and transferred same day to Anzac Recovery Station (enteritis); to 76th Casualty Clearing Station (debility); to 47th Stationary Hospital, 27 April 1918; to 44th Stationary Hospital, Kantara, 1 May 1918; to 14th Australian General Hospital, 2 May 1918; to Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp, Port Said, 11 May 1918. Marched out to Moascar, 6 June 1918, and joined 1st Light Horse Training Regiment.

Marched out to 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 26 July 1918; joined, 27 July 1918.

Commenced return to Australia from Kantara on board HT 'Orari', 15 June 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 26 June 1919; discharged, Adelaide, 26 August 1919.
