Military Medal 'These men [19 L.O. McCRAE, SKELTON, 251 A. JACKSON] besides carrying messages, each made several journeys up to the enemy's wire, endeavouring to locate points where our troops had entered. The information that they brought back was of considerable value when the situation was still obscure. Private McCRAE at night guided a party of stretcher bearers out to the enemy's wire. This party brought in 50 wounded.'

Polkinghorne, and Skelton] were several times on the evening of 9th August 1918 during the advance towards RAINECOURT, east of AMIENS, sent with messages to the Companies. They had to travel through a heavy machine gun and artillery barrage and locate the Companies at a time when the position had not been clearly defined. They showed not the slightest hesitation and by their courage and reliability rendered valuable service to the Battalion.'
