Statement, Red Cross File No 2520702, 2037 Pte E.G.W. KING, C Company, 31st Bn (patient, No 4 Australian General Hospital, Randwick), 27 December 1917: 'He was killed outright by the same shell which wounded me. This was within 20 yards from our own line as we were advancing. I saw him fall but I was able to carry on and as we returned the next morning I came across his body. I am quite sure it was Slimon and that he was dead.'
