Embarked Sydney, 20 February 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 5 May 1916, and entrained for Hazebrouck; detrained Hazebrouck, 8 May 1916.

Found guilty, 3 January 1918, of when on Active Service being absent without leave from 12 noon, 23 December, till 12 noon, 2 January 1918: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 1, and forfeited a total of 25 days' pay.

Admitted to 7th Australian Field Ambulance, 24 January 1918 (debility); transferred to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 2 February 1918; transferred to England, 8 February 1918, and admitted to Princess Christian Military Hospital, Surrey (arterial sclerosis); transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 13 February 1918; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 19 February 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Kenilworth Castle', 12 March 1918; transshipped to HT 'Feld Marschall', at Durban, 28 April 1916; disembarked Melbourne, 22 May 1918, for onward travel to Brisbane; discharged (medically unfit), 27 June 1918.
