Medals |
Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When the platoon in front of him, during an attack, had lost its commander, who was severely wounded, and had suffered heavily in other casualties, he immediately pushed forward with some of his own men, and, taking command of the platoon thus reinforced, proceeded to drive off the enemy, with very heavy casualties of killed and prisoners, as they attempted to prevent the consolidation of the position he had captured, and which he then disposed for defence and held against counter attacks. His courage initiative and skill were largely responsible for the success of the enterprise.'
