Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In the vicinity of MERICURT L'ABBE during the early morning of 24th April, 1918, as linesman, on his own initiative, and through extremely trying circumstances of gas and shell bombardment, he continued to keep the battery lines in repair, showing a fine example of devotion to duty and complete disregard for personal safety. The behaviour of this N.C.O. has been conspicuous on previous occasions under similar circumstances.'
