Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in the attack on the Tramway line near BULLECOURT on 3rd May 1917 in reconnoitring and clearing up the situation on our left flank. When his Platoon commander and Sergeant was both killed he took command of the Platoon and did excellent work proving himself an able leader as well as a cool and gallant soldier.'
