Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When in charge of a fighting patrol he attacked an enemy post, capturing the two machine guns and killing the garrison. After reaching his objective he withdrew his men most ably under heavy fire, making full use of the captured guns. He set a fine example of courage and good leadership.'
