Military Medal 'On the night of December 19/20, 1915 at Gallipoli these men [SMITH, 1956 H.W. SKEOCH, 462 E.R. SMITH, 859 L.C. MORREY] were among the last of the 22nd Battalion to leave the trenches in front of Johnston's Jolly. A front of about 550 yards of trench was divided up between them and their duty was to develop sufficient fire along the whole front to make conditions appear normal. This was successfully done, the men using different loopholes in their allotted areas. They were on this work for 2 1/2 hours.'
