Military Medal 'At WESTHOEK 20th September 1917. This N.C.O. was in charge of the Left Section of the Battalion line. He faithfully kept his direction and became separated from his Company by the marshy ground between IRON CROSS and ALBERT REDOUBTS. He established a post East of IRON CROSS and got into touch with his Company by a circuitous forward route. He showed great skill, daring, and resourcefulness, in handling a difficult situation.'
