Military Medal 'For bravery and devotion to duty. On the 8th August, 1918, during the operations east of HAMEL, Private SNELL acted as a Battalion linesman. He successfully ran out during the advance 1500 yards of telephone wire, working under heavy enemy machine gun fire, and by maintaining this wire he enabled early accurate information to be transmitted to Battalion Headquarters when the situation, owing to heavy fog and smoke, was more or less obscure. He showed an utter disregard for his own safety and set a very fine example of courage and determination.'
