Military Cross 'For fine courage and leadership of his platoon during the attack west of Bellenglise, north of St. Quentin, on the 18th September 1918. A nest of machine guns caused great trouble. He rushed forward with a few of his men, shot two of the enemy with his revolver and captured 30 prisoners and a machine gun. Besides a number of machine guns, his platoon secured 100 prisoners, two field guns, and three trench mortars.'
