'During the operations, East of YPRES in which his Battalion was engaged in October 1917, this N.C.O. did particularly good work in getting hot food to the men of his Company working both by day and night under shell fire and through country which was almost impassable. At all times, the care of his men has been his chief concern and his devotion to duty is most marked.'
