Military Medal 'On the 4th July, 1918, at HAMEL, this man showed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. An enemy strong point was encountered east of HAMEL Village containing three machine guns. STANTON was wounded in the neck, but he went back and directed the tank onto the enemy position. He followed up and bombed a dugout and captured several prisoners. His coolness and initiative relieved a critical situation, and he displayed magnificient dash and conspicuous gallantry.'
