Bar to Military Cross 'During the operations on the Beaurevoir line, east of Peronne, on 3rd October 1918, when his men were held up by enemy entanglements and machine gun fire, he dashed out alone and cut a line through the wire for them. He then led a party of men against an enemy machine gun which was inflicting casualties on our troops, successfully putting it out of action. Throughout he showed great courage and able leadership.'
