Military Medal 'During the attack on 8th August, 1918, east of VILLERS BRETONNEUX, near AMIENS, the left flank was held up by Machine Gun fire, and the wire in front of the post was very thick. Sergeant STEVENS in company with another N.C.O. managed to get through and rush the post, which they put out of action, killing four of the garrison and taking the rest prisoners. During the following days until 11th August, 1918, his deeds, cheerfulness, and example inspired the men with great confidence and determination. He was wounded in the attack on RAINECOURT.'
