'This Non Commissioned Officer has been in charge of the C.R.E.'s Survey work for the past 20 months. With great determination he has often surveyed and reconnoitred trench systems etc., under shell fire and very trying conditions. His office work is of the highest order, and the maps he has produced have been invaluable to the Division. His cheerfulness and devotion to duty have always inspired those working with him.'
