Military Medal 'This Gunner was at GUARD near HOOGE on the night of the 18th September, 1917. He materially assisted in company with others in putting out fires in three gun pits, where the ammunition had been set on fire by hostile shelling, the Battery being under fire from the enemy at the time. As a result of this a large quantity of ammunition was saved which enabled the guns to be kept in action.'
