Embarked from Melbourne, 12 September 1916; disembarked Suez, Egypt, 17 October 1916, and marched into Isolation Camp, 18 October 1916. Taken on strength, 3rd Light Horse Training Regiment, 31 October 1916. Transferred to 8th Light Horse Regiment, 25 November 1916.

Attached to 3rd Light Horse Brigade Headquarters, 22 July 1917; rejoined unit, 13 August 1917.

Wounded in action, 12 December 1917; remained at duty.

Admitted to Port Said Rest Camp, 1 July 1918; rejoined unit in Palestine, 16 July 1918.

Admitted to 66th Casualty Clearing Station, 4 September 1918 (dangerously ill: typhoid); classified as out of danger, 13 September 1918. Discharged to 14th Australian General Hospital, Cairo, 14 October 1918. Granted 14 days' leave, 29 October 1918; rejoined unit, 4 March 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Malta', 3 July 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 7 August 1919; discharged, 21 September 1919.
