Found guilty, Etaples, 21 December 1916, of when on Active Service being absent from 9.45 am parade until 12 noon: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeiture of 3 days' pay.

Taken on strength, 32nd Bn, in the field, 3 January 1917.

Admitted to 8th Australian field Ambulance, 3 January 1917; discharged to unit, and rejoined Bn, in the field, 13 January 1917.

Admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance, 23 January 1917 (sprained right ankle), and transferred to 38th Casualty Clearing Station; to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 26 January 1917 (srain: slight); discharged to No 2 Convalescent Depot, 23 February 1917.

Admitted to 6th General Hospital, 9 March 1917 (myalgia); transferred to No 2 Convalescent Depot, 19 March 1917; to 11th Convalescent Depot, Buchy, 10 April 1917.

Accidentally injured, 12 August 1917 (fractured metacarpal, left hand; injury not sustained in performance of military duty); admitted to 8th Field Ambulance, 14 August 1917; transferred to 7th Casualty Clearing Station, 15 August 1917; to 7th Convalescent Depot, Boulogne; to 13th Convalescent Depot, Trouville, 26 August 1917; to 5th Australian Division Base Depot, Havre, 25 September 1917.

Found guilty, 1 October 1917, of (1) being out of bounds contrary to Standing Order No 2; being absent from 2 pm, 30 September, until apprehended by Military Police, 3.30 pm, 30 September 1917: awarded 7 days' confined to camp and forfeiture of 3 days' pay; total forfeiture: 5 days' pay.

Rejoined Bn, in the field, 7 November 1917.

Admitted to 8th Australian Field Ambulance,27 November 1917 (bronchitis), and transferred to 5th Division Rest Station; discharged to duty, and rejoined Bn, 11 December 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Borda', 5 April 1918, for discharge (rheumatism); found guilty, Capt Town, south Africa, of (1) being absent from HT 'Borda' at 10.30 am when it sailed, leave having expired at 11.30 pm, 3 May 1918; (2) being absent without leave from 11.30 pm, 3 May, till 5 pm, 4 May 1918: awarded 168 hours' detention, and forfeiture of 28 days' pay; embarked for Australia from Cape Town on board HT 'Tofua', 20 May 1918; disembarked, 14 June 1918; discharged (medically unfit), 11 October 1918.
