Military Medal 'Near NOREUIL on 26th March 1917 throughout the day this man stood out as an example of courage and coolness. He volunteered for both reconnaissances which were made towards NOREUIL, and when stopped by machine gun fire, he carried a wounded comrade back to cover under heavy fire. he returned immediately to the line, and took part in a second reconnaissance under shell fire. he inspired all who were near him with confidence, and continued to do most useful work until wounded late in the afternoon. This man was badly wounded at POZIERES on August 5th 1916.'
