'On the morning of 9th October, 1917, during the attack east of ZONNEBEKE, Private STRAHAN volunteered for stretcher bearing undr most trying cirucmstances. he worked continuously under intense shell fire and under particularly adverse weather conditions, bringing in wounded men promptly and assisting in carrying men to the Aid Post, although at times the enemy barrage was concentrated on his immediate surroundings, he never hesitiated working throughout with utter disregard for his personal safety.'
