Military Medal

'On the night of 17th September, 1918, near LE VERGUIER, this N.C.O. rendered valuable assistance in the taping out of the jumping-off line for the attack the following morning. This important work was successfully carried out, notwithstanding shell and machine gun fire and the proximity of the enemy. During the attack he shoed great coolness and initiative in organising working parties under heavy shell fire. His keenness and coolness under most trying conditions set a fine example to the men under him and enabled a large amount of useful work to be carried out.'
