For courage and devotion to duty from 25th February to 16th September, 1918. As a Sergeant in the early part of this period C.S.M. BOX at all times displayed great coolness and initiative under fire, and was the right hand of his section officer. Since his promotion to C.S.M. on 29th May, he has carried out his duty in an exemplary manner. He is a strict and consistent disciplinarian and tactful in the handling of the N.C.O.s and men under him, and the high standard of discipline in his company at present is mainly attributable to his influence.'
