'On night 21/22-7-17 near SHRAPNEL CORNET, though himself wounded and under heavy fire, assisted to unhook mules until a comrade was severely wounded when he assisted the other man to the Dressing Station. His action was witnessed by Lieutenant BIRD and Lieutenant LILBURNE.'
