Military Medal 'On 7th June, 1917, in PLOEGSTEERT WOOD this man acted as a Stretcher Bearer for 20 hours continuously under heavy artillery fire and for a considerable portion of that time he had to work wearing the small box respirator. After 16 hours work, volunteers were called for to carry a case from the old enemy line back to the R.A.P., this man at once volunteered and by his determination and disregard for personal safety succeeded in carrying out his voluntary duty.'
