Military Medal

'This N.C.O. did extremely valuable work during the operations near Zonnebeke east of Ypres on 4th October, 1917. He took charge of important patrols which had to be sent out prior to the attack. He moved along No Man's Land backwards and forwards to prevent the enemy taking charge and so perhaps greatly hinder the advance. His work was valuable and at all times during the barrages of the 4th, 5th and 6th he displayed the greatest coolness and courage.'
