Military Medal 'At INFERNO DUMP, North of ZILLEBEKE on the night of 27th October, 1917, the N.C.O. and two men named [SUTHERLAND and 3015 John James FRASER] were on Guard at this Dump and at about 9.0'clock p.m. it was set on fire by an enemy incendiary shell. Although several boxes of ammunition had exploded they started to put out the fire by throwing burning boxes into shell holes full of water and by pouring water on the dump which was alight in several places. After much exertion, and with the assistance of the remaining members of Y.I.A. Battery, (the party in charge of the dump) who quickly came to their assistance, the fire was extinguished. The three mentioned men were utterly fearless in a time of great danger, showing splendid courage and devotion to duty.'
