Wounded in action, Gallipoli Peninsula, 15 May 1915; admitted to 15th General Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt, 19 May 1915 (gun shot wound to ankle, thumb, right shoulder and scalp); transferred to General Hospital, Cairo, 26 May 1915; to Convalescent Depot, Mustapha, 11 June 1915; to Detention Hospital, Abbassia, 19 June 1915; proceeded to join Bn in Dardanelles, 22 July 1915; marched out from Dardanelles, 10 August 1915; disembarked Alexandria, Egypt, 29 December 1915; taken on strength of 4th Machine Gun Company, Serapeum, 9 March 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 1 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 9 June 1916; returned to 4th Field Ambulance and placed on Supernumerary List, 16 October 1916; on leave to England, 18 September 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 1 October 1917; rejoined 4th Field Ambulance from detachment with 4th Machine Gun Company, 12 February 1918.
