War service: Western Front Embarked Fremantle, 13 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 12 December 1916, and marched into 4th training Bn. Proceeded overseas to France, 8 February 1917; taken on strength, 16th Bn, in the field, 13 February 1917. Reported missing in action, 11 April 1917. Subsequently reported prisoner of war, captured at Reincourt (wounded left leg, broken). Repatriated to England, 15 December 1918. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Cape Verde', 5 January 1920; disembarked Fremantle, 16 February 1920; discharged, Perth, 25 April 1920. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
