Military Medal 'Near BEAUREVOIR during the period the 3rd to 5th October, 1918, Sappers [18796 S.A.] McINTOSH, and TARGETT displayed a high sense of valour, and keen devotion to duty. The Brigade had been quickly rushed forward early in the day, and towards evening all the units of the Brigade became involved with the other two Brigades of the Division. On the allocation of a definite sector of front to the 6th Brigade only one line was signal purposes. These two sappers as a pair worked from the forward report centre to the line Battalions in the laying of new lines. This involved constant exposure to enemy shell fire for a long period. For seventy two hours both of these men remained continuously on linesmens duties. Regardless of danger McINTOSH, and TARGETT cheerfully went out at all hours repairing the numerous breaks in the lines. Their untiring efforts were undoubtedly responsible for the constant maintenance of communications of the Brigade Forward Station to the Battalions.'
