Embarked Melbourne on HMAT 'Wiltshire', 7 March 1916; taken on strength of 59th Bn, Tel-el-Kebir, from 2nd Training Battalion, 20 April 1916.

Admitted to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 12 May 1916 (cardiac complications); transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 12 June 1916.

Embarked Suez and commenced return to Australia on HT 'Clan MacGillivray', 10 July 1916; disembarked Melbourne, 14 August 1916. Discharged as being medically unfit for service, Melbourne, 13 September 1916.
