Wounded in action, 23 November 1916 (head injury and shock); evacuated to England, 27 November 1916, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth; discharged from hospital, 13 February 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Benalla', 13 February 1917 (fractured skull); appointment terminated (discharged), 10 May 1917.
