'During the attack on POLGYON WOOD, east of YPRES on 20/21st September, 1917, Sgt. TERRY commanded a Brigade carrying party of 40 men. By his splendid example of energy and disregard of personal safety he got his whole party through an intense barrage over very difficult ground, thereby getting urgently needed water and S.A.A. to the front line. He subsequently continued to do good work leading up other carrying parties through heavy artillery fire.'
