Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations west and north of BRAY on the morning of the 22nd August, 1918, when Nos 1 and 2 of the gun crew were killed and the Gun Commander wounded, this soldier left a place of safety, too charge of the gun, and carried on until the completion of the task. He then assisted the Gun Commander through a heavy enemy fire, to reach the Aid Post. He at once returned to his gun, carried up fresh supplies and ammunition, etc. under heavy fire, thereby setting a fine example of initiative, pluck, and endurance.'
