Meritorious Service Medal

'This N.C.O. has shown continued devotion to duty under the most trying circumstances.he left Australia with the 2nd Australian Divisional Artillery in November, 1915, and has been with 4th A.F.A. Brigade Headquarters for the past two years and in charge of the office for most of that time. Notwithstanding the great difficulty under which he has been required to work, Sergeant ALLEN has continued to serve the Brigade with a wonderful faithfulness and devotion to duty. At all times and under the most trying circumstances through lack of sleep and in miserable quarters - frequently under heavy shell fire - he continued cheerfully to carry out his duties and his loyalty and endurance have been of the highest order.'
