Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in repeatedly repairing wireless aerial when broken by heavy shell fire until it became impossible to keep it working. He then established successful communication with amplifier, and continued to work for two days after his ration supply had been destroyed by shell fire, eventually bringing away the whole of his wireless gear through heavy shelling.'
