Found guilty, 15 September 1916, of (1) quitting the ranks without urgent necessity; (2) disobedience of a lawful command given by his superior officer, in that he refused to stand when ordered to do so by Lieutenant Wilson: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 2 on each charge, and forfeits a total of 6 days' pay.

Taken on strength of 44th Bn, 13 October 1916.

Found guilty, 22 November 1916, of being absent without leave from 0830 hours, 15 November 1916, until 2230 hours, 19 November 1916: awarded 5 days' Field Punishment No 2 and total forfeiture of 10 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 November 1916.

Two Blue Chevrons due, 6 June 1917.
