'On the 1st September, 1918, during operations North of PERONNE, many of the advancing troops were held up by fire from a nest of enemy Machine Guns. private TREASURE went forward with a Lewis Gun and in face of severe fire worked round to the enemy's flank and opened fire from a very exposed position. On seeing TREASURE the enemy immediately concentrated their fire on him, this enabled other men to rush the post and capture the gun and crew.'
