Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy counter attack. he was in charge of reserve gun teams, and hurried forward to reinforce the front line through a heavy barrage. He kept his guns in action under heavy shelling,visiting each gun and encouraging the men, inspiring them by his courage and coolness under trying conditions.'
