Military Medal 'On 2nd September 1918 during the resumption of the attack on PERONNE this N.C.O. displayed splendid judgement and initiative, and it was mainly through his prompt action that the weak portion of the line was re-established and a sound defensive line formed. In the absence of Company Officers who had been wounded he took charge of the Platoon under very trying circumstances, collected the various sections, and formed a sound defensive flank to a part of the line which was 'in the air' and held on until the flank Battalion was able to advance, when he at once established connection.'
