Military Medal 'During the operations near VAIRE WOOD, east of CORBIE, [2887 P. TURNBULL and 2718 R.E. KIRKWOOD] acted as linesmen on 4th July, 1918, connecting advanced Battalion and Companies. During the heavy enemy bombardment that followed, they were out all hours repairing lines regardless of personal risks, and throughout the operations communication was not interrupted more than a few minutes at a time.'
