Military Medal 'During the capture of MT. ST. QUENTIN on 1st September, 1918, this Signaller linesman displayed great gallantry. Time after time he repaired his lines and kept communication between Company and Battalion Headquarters, though buried by shell fire and badly shaken he persisted in his work although each time he had to work under direct machine gun fire at close range.. His work and personal disregard of danger was of a very high order and of inestimable value to the success of the operation. Again on the 2nd and 3rd September this man worked continually repairing the lines moving through a heavy shell barrage. At one period he worked for 36 hours continuously without sleep.'
