Meritorious Service Medal 'For consistent devotion to duty. During the period 25th February 1918 to 30th December 1918, R.Q.M.S. UPFOLD has carried out his duties with exceptional energy and ability. During the active operations since August 8th, 1918, his untiring energy, cheerfulness and determination in the face of great difficulties was largely responsible for the proper feeding and clothing of the men. His services have been most invaluable during the period under review, and has at all times set a splendid example to all ranks in his work, by strict economy and salvage of by-products. The present high state of efficiency in the Quarter-Master's Branch of the battalion is largely due to this Warrant Officer's resourcefulness and conscientious hard work, which is worthy of every recognition.'
