Military Medal

'Private VANE has shown great devotion to duty and his work has been of much value to the R.M.O. At POZIERES during the periods from 25th July to 5th August, 1916 and 21st to 27th August, 1916, the dressing stations were in exposed positions with inadequate cover. His work has been to the entire satisfaction of Captain PERN R.M.O. and he has shown a complete disregard of shell fire.'
