Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 2 March 1915.

Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 25 April 1915 (gun shot wound, left shoulder); admitted to No 1 General Hospital, Heliopolis, 30 April 1915, and thence to No 2 General Hospital, Ghezireh (no date recorded).

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ballarat', 5 July 1915.

Re-embarked Brisbane on board HT Marathon', 27 October 1916, as Lieutenant, 49th Bn, 7th Reinforcement.
