Proceeded to join Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 16 May 1915. Admitted to Hospital Ship 'Salta' (diarrhoea), 5 September 1915; transferred to No. 2 General Hospital, Ghezireh, Cairo, 9 September 1915. Discharged for duty, 18 October 1915. Marched out to Serapeum, 23 February 1916.

Admitted sick to hospital, Kazar, 30 September 1917. Diagnosed with Bell's Paralysis, and admitted to 14th General Hospital, Abbassia, 7 October 1917; transferred to Abbassia Convalescent Depot, 28 October 1917; to British Red Cross Convalescent Hospital, Montazah, 13 November 1917. Taken on strength, 2nd Light Horse Regiment, 23 November 1917; transferred to 5th Light Horse Regiment, 14 February 1918, and taken on strength, Wadi Hanien, 16 February 1917.

Accidentally shot in the foot in the performance of military duty, 2 July 1918; held not to blame, no disciplinary action taken; admitted to 14th Australian General Hospital, Port Said, 8 July 1918. Marched in to Rest Camp, Port Said, 28 July 1918; to Moascar, 7 August 1918; to 2nd Light Horse Training Regiment, Moascar, 1 September 1918. Marched out to 5th Light Horse Regiment Details, 19 September 1918.

Embarked at Suez on 'Port Darwin' for 1914 leave, 15 November 1918. Disembarked Australia, 26 December 1918. Discharged 26 February 1919.
