Military Medal 'On 12th, 13th and 14th October, 1917, East of YPRES, this man did conspicuous work as a stretcher bearer. On three occasions he attended and dressed wounded men lying some distance from the track in an area that was being heavily shelled. Although he had a stretcher case to carry down at the time, he made arrangements for the evacuation of these men, undoubtedly saving them much suffering and possibly their lives, as they would otherwise have been overlooked lying in shell holes.'
